Michael Wayne Whitesell, age 56, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at his home Sunday, July 22, 2012. Mike was born January 21, 1956, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, the son of Wayne White and June (Whitesell) White. He attended El Dorado Springs High School where he was a four year letterman in football. Mike was a member of Sheffield Family Life Center where he was saved June 14, 1989.
Mike married Debra Deann Bradley August 20, 1977. To this union one child was born, Steven Wayne Whitesell.
Mike moved to Kansas City in 1982, and worked at General Motors for 30 years until his passing. He spent as much time as possible with his son and three grandchildren who were the light of his life. He also loved music, attending too many concerts to even begin to mention.
Preceding Mike in death were his grandparents Lloyd Whitesell and Wilda (McWilliams) Whitesell.
Mike is survived by: his parents Wayne and June White; one son Steven Whitesell and girlfriend Tasha Mahan; three grandchildren Aunika, Dylan, and Izabelle Whitesell; and daughter-in-law Stacy Spencer, all of El Dorado Springs; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Mike Whitesell were held Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, with Rev. James Coleman officiating. Burial followed in Mound Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Brad Belcher, Curtis Gilbert, Tony Kissenger, Russell Holt, Rick Pinkman, and Tom Huff. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Dale, Jerry Julian, and Lenny Davis.
