She was born in Clinton, MO, on January 10, 1930, to Daniel F. and Mary I (Boultinghouse) Henry. They moved to the Olympia area when she was a small child and she attended Barnes School until she started high school.

At that time she went to Nevada and worked for Kellwood Tent Factory until it closed in 1974. She then went to work at the Nevada State School and Hospital, retiring from there in the mid 1990ís. Not being one to sit still she returned to work for Skills Unlimited and worked for them until she was 75.
She married James Pippin in 1982 and shared 20 happy years with him, until his death in 2002. Their passion was the 40 acres of land, part of her family farm, just south of Olympia.
