Obituary
Wilma Maxine (Kirby) Hunt, age 66, of Golden City, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 6, 2013, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born on July 3, 1947, in Prowers County, Colorado, to Charles Mack and Wilma Viola Kirby.

Maxine, as everyone called her, moved to the Golden City area in Missouri in April of 1949 with her parents and two brothers, Edward and Charles. A few years later the family moved to the Jerico Springs area. She attended the Newport School in Golden City and graduated from the 8th Grade in Jerico Springs. She finished her schooling in Stockton, graduating in the Class of 1965. She was the only girl in her family, so she had a way getting what she wanted, often by reminding her dad that she was the only girl on the farm. Her brothers normally gave in to her also.

Maxine was united in Holy Matrimony to Jimmie Albert Hunt on April 8, 1966, in Sheldon, Missouri at the home of her aunt and uncle by Rev. Bill Turner. This union was blessed by four children: Sherri Diane, Jimmie Robert, Brent Alan, and William Eric.

Maxine worked at the International Shoe Factory in El Dorado Springs and the Cap Factory in Lockwood for a few years. She and Jim also ran a kennel for some time, but the job she enjoyed most was being a wife, mother, and granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Jim lived in many different places during their forty-seven years together, and spent the last five years in Golden City.

Maxine will be remembered for many things, especially her potato salad, which was continually requested by her grandkids, her cranberry salad, her pancakes, her loving hospitality that she showed to all her family and friends who visited her home, and her smile, which she kept to the very end.

Maxine was preceded in death by her son, Brent Alan, and her parents, Charles and Wilma Kirby.

Survivors include her husband of forty-seven years, Jim; one daughter, Sherri Reid of Miller, Missouri; two sons: Jimmie Robert of Richland, Missouri, and William Eric of Jerico Springs, Missouri; son-in-law, David; daughter-in-laws, Tammie and Karen; five brothers: Edward of Farlington, Kansas, Charles and wife, Angelan, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Robert and wife, Diane, of rural Sheldon, Missouri, James and wife, Ruby, of Jerico Springs, Missouri, and Ronald and wife, Sandra of Jerico Springs, Missouri; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Hunt family; one aunt, Jean Kirbey; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; as well as her little dog, Muffy.

Funeral services for Maxine were held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Interment followed next to her son Brent in Hamby Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Jimmie R. Hunt, Eric Hunt, Ronald Kirby, Tim Reid, Matt Sanders, Colton Sharp, and Troy Kirbey.
