The world lost a sweet and gentle soul on January 11, 2015, with the passing of Melissa Lynn Emery, age 44, of El Dorado Springs, MO.
Melissa was born on July 10, 1970, in Berrien County, MI. She lived most of her life in the Indianapolis, IN area, only moving to El Dorado Springs last year.
In 1995, Melissa took a leap of faith and started an electrical contracting business, Emery Electric LLC. Melissa truly loved her job and wiring houses was her passion. She was very meticulous in both her work and home life. She felt that anything less than her best was a waste of time and talent. She was respected and admired by all who had the privilege to work with her.
Melissa was very caring and selfless and put others needs before her own. She always lent a helping hand to anyone in need with no expectations of anything in return. She felt like everyone deserved a fair chance and always looked for the good in people.
Melissa had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved boating, kayaking and barbequing.
Melissa was preceded in death by her grandparents, step-father Jim Phillips, and her Uncle Ken Garland.
She is survived by her mother, Kathy Phipps of El Dorado Springs, MO; three sisters, Tina Melton and husband Kevin of Mt. Juliet, TN, Wendy Best and husband Jason of El Dorado Springs, MO, and Carrina McMannis and husband Tom of Noblesville, IN; seven nephews, three nieces, two great nephews, and one great niece; two aunts, Sandra Garland of MI and Janice Lowery and husband Mike of IN; several cousins and numerous friends.
