Obituary
Marty (Blystone) Bishop, age 78, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Marty was born on July 2, 1937, in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of Ernest and Neoma (Rodgers) Blystone. She attended school in El Dorado Springs until she was rescued by her soon-to-be husband Robert Bishop. She was seventeen when they married on October 31, 1954.

Robert and Marty enjoyed over sixty years of marriage. They raised two children, Dennis and Judy, who were both born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family soon returned from the city to the family farm outside El Dorado Springs. Marty thoroughly enjoyed life on the farm. She raised a large, fruitful garden and fed her family off the produce of the farm. She helped provide for the family by working at Tri-County State Bank as teller and loan officer.

Marty’s favorite activities included quilting, gardening, canning, going to garage sales, reading, and sharing life with her family. After retiring, she and Bob began spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona, where Marty loved the desert southwest. They enjoyed their friends in both El Dorado Springs and Yuma.

Marty was very active in the life of the church. She began following Jesus as a young mother and gave her life in service to the Lord.

Marty was a breast cancer survivor. Her family takes great pride in the fact that cancer did not beat her. Her trials of health only strengthened her resolve and faith.

Above all, Marty was a caregiver. First, she cared wonderfully for her children, then for her siblings, parents, and friends. Lastly, she devoted her life to caring for the love of her life, her husband, Bob.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ernest and Neoma Blystone; her brothers: Cecil Blystone and Larry Blystone; her in-laws, John and Mabel Bishop; and her nephew, Orlin Bishop.

Marty is survived by her husband, Robert Bishop, of El Dorado Springs, MO; her son, Dennis Bishop and wife, Melissa, of Jefferson City, MO; her daughter, Judy Wilson and husband, Woody, of Montreal, Canada; grandchildren: Josh and Sarah Wilson of McKinney, TX, Nathan and Meg Wilson of Plano, TX, Matthieu and Lauren Wilson of Greenville, SC, Rachel and Brett Tidwell of Palestine, TX, Dustin McTeer of Jefferson City, MO, Matthew and Jenna McTeer of Jefferson City, MO, and Jenny Morelli of Baton Rouge, LA; great-grandchildren: Ariel McTeer, Aniston Wilson, Cadence Wilson, Silas Wilson, Brooks McTeer, Isla Wilson, Jack Wilson, Blaire Wilson, Jude Wilson, and Lively Wilson; her sisters, Mary Zartman of Fruitland Park, FL, and Eva Spohn, of El Dorado Springs, MO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Marty Bishop were held on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado Springs with Rev. Ron Marsh, Dr. Woody Wilson, and Rev. Matthieu Wilson officiating under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Music was provided by Rita Farris and Emma Lou Spencer. Final disposition was inurnment.
