Goldia L. Resendiz, age 87, of El Dorado Springs, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Community Springs Nursing Home. She was born June 2, 1928, to Rosina and Frank Holloway in Brownington, MO.
Goldia spent her life until age eighty-three working. She began working as a chicken picker at age sixteen, and worked several other jobs throughout her life. Those jobs included waitress, factory worker in a cannery, school crossing guard, and greeter at Walmart in her eighties. She especially loved the kids when she worked as a crossing guard.
She was united in marriage to Robert Resendiz on September 20, 1951. They shared a daughter, Virginia. Robert served in the military, so they lived and traveled all over the United States, ranging from Maine to Florida to California, where they made their home in San Jose for twenty years before moving to McPherson, KS, to care for ill family members.
Goldia had many interests which kept her busy and on the go. Besides her family and jobs, she shared a love for animals with her husband. She was also an active member of the American Legion and VFW, and loved playing bingo with her friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Resendiz; her mother and father, Rosina and Frank Holloway; two brothers, James and Leroy Holloway; and her son-in-law, Gerald Davis.
Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Davis; two granddaughters, Goldia Schulte and husband, Victor, and Helen Davis and fiancée, Brian Neher; two grandsons, Chris Davis and John Davis; great-grandchildren: Greg and Stephanie Austin, Jarred Austin, Jordan Dozler and husband, Brennan, Destany Miller, and Kira Williams; great-great-grandchildren: Colton Austin, Sakara Austin, Hayden Austin, Keana Austin, and Rylynn Dozler; nephew, Leroy Holloway; and niece, Janice Kohn.
Funeral services for Goldia Resendiz will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. There will be a visitation preceding the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
