Neva Almeda (Burton) Barker, age 94, of rural Stockton\El Dorado Springs, passed away at her home on Tuesday morning, May 3, 2011. Neva was born February 27, 1917, at Birdsong, Missouri, the daughter of Orville (Blacksmith) Burton and Alice (Capps) Burton. Neva married Donald (Hamburger) Barker on July 12, 1940. They were married 67 years before Donald’s passing in 2006. To their union five children were born.
Except for the time Donald spent in the Army during World War II, Neva and Donald lived their entire married lives on the farm where they raised their children. Neva enjoyed her life and her family. Neva was a member of the Brush Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she was saved on December 1, 1934, and attended there all of her life.
Times were hard when the children were young, but Neva always made sure the family had what they needed, especially the love of their parents. She also loved gardening, flowers, being ornery, and going fishing.
Preceding Neva in death were her husband, Donald; her parents; an infant brother and an infant sister; one son-in-law, Clarence Hicks; one great-grandson, Nathan Crabtree; one sister, Freda Kennon; and one niece, Janet West.
