Obituary
Dartha Mae “Dorothy” (Leonard) Moore, age 85, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away, June 19, 2017, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital. She was born September 19, 1931, to Avery and Thelma (Millsap) Leonard.

Dorothy was born at the Leonard home in Blackjack, MO, the 4th out of 9 children. She was married to Bernard Moore on June 6, 1951. In 1948, at the age of 16, she started employment at the Shoe Factory and worked there until it closed. From 1985 till 1996 she worked at the State Hospital in Nevada. Later she drove cars for different dealers in El Dorado Springs until 2009.

On June 6, 1951, Dorothy married Bernard Moore. To this union two children were born: Randy Moore and Kenny Moore. Dorothy loved her husband of 53 years. She was a kind hearted woman who would have helped anyone in need. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She made sure she taught her children to put others first and treat others with respect and kindness. She missed her husband Bernard and grandson Chad very much.

Dorothy was an excellent chef, quilter, and gardener. She loved to go out in her garden even if it was 100 degrees outside. She was a model to her family and friends. She showed us that we could be who we were and still be loved and cared for.

Dorothy would spend every Sunday at noon with her son Randy, eating Sunday lunch. She loved going with her sisters to Branson where they would spend time together trying not to get into any trouble. She had a long happy life with another adventure around every corner. Bernard and Dorothy were avid travelers, and visited every state.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her husband, Bernard; grandson, Chad; parents, Thelma and Avery; brothers: Bobby, Cletis, Ronnie and Harold Lee; and sister, Pat.

Survivors include her sons: Randy Moore and wife Charlene of El Dorado Springs, MO, and Kenny Moore and wife Pam of Camdenton, MO; granddaughter, Cassandra Wining and husband Randy of Pleasant Hill, MO; three great-grandchildren: Shila, Nolan, and Kami Moore; three step-grandchildren: Matthew Soldan, Steven Soldan, and Crystal Lowe; three sisters: Sharron Poe and husband Mark of Overland Park, KS; Imogene Marquis and husband Russell of El Dorado Springs, MO; and Bonnell Huff of El Dorado Springs, MO; brother-in-law, Van Baker and sister-in-law, Betty Leonard of El Dorado Springs, MO; sister-in-law, Nancy Leonard of Stockton, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
