Carol Rosalie Julian, age 82, of El Dorado Springs, MO, died on September 14, 2017, after a long struggle with congestive heart failure. She was born on January 7, 1935, to Alfred and Gladys (Andes) Preston in Independence, MO.
On February 11, 1952, she was united in marriage with Arthur Junior Julian. Together they raised three children: Michael Lee, Jerry Ray, and Lucille Marie.
Carol was a mother, homemaker, and a farmer’s wife, which meant she was always cooking, cleaning, canning, gardening, and helping her husband in the field. She kept a beautiful home and was an amazing cook. Cooking for people was one of her many ways of showing her love. Her grandchildren always told her that she should open a restaurant—that’s how much everyone loved her food.
She was a wonderful storyteller, and her big, boisterous laugh would make everyone else laugh, too. She spent her entire life taking care of others and making sure everyone felt loved and appreciated; she remembered everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries and never failed to send a card or give a little gift.
Carol had an unwavering faith in God, attending church when she was in good health.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Julian, and wife Stacy; daughter, Lucille Cooney; daughter-in-law, Pam Julian; grandchildren, Errin, Jana, Riley, Jaime, Jared, Dustin, Shane, Janea, Clint, and Desiaree; niece, Cheryl; nephews, Steve and Ronnie; many great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur; her son, Michael Lee; an infant son at birth; as well as her parents, brother, and sister.
Grandma and Grandpa were so proud of the family and the love they created. She was fond of looking around at family gatherings of all her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and saying to Grandpa, “Just look at what we started.” We hope she’s saying that very thing to him now as they are reunited and looking down on us celebrating her wonderful life.
“All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on—in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here....A death ends a life, not a relationship.“ (from Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom)
